I was inspired to paint this picture for my [20" X 34"] bathroom - which is very nautical in flavour - as a tribute to those brave and hearty sailors of the past who left the banks of the Mersey here in Liverpool to explore those so-called 'new frontiers'. As with another painting, I was again inspired to seek a meaning from the Spiritualists' Hymn Book, number 314.

" 'Tis here Thine unknown paths we trace
  Which dark to human eyes appear;
  While through the mighty waves we pass,
  Faith only sees that God is here. "
